The hyperbolic geometry of the Escher form once again captures aspects of everyday life with an attentive gaze.
The protagonists of the coin are the tigers in the Year of the Tiger, a symbol of strength and rebirth, here too they represent two equal and opposite character traits: the introvert and the extrovert; one focuses on the outside world, the other on the inside. They are two shades of an antipodean sentiment. Shown in the same pose but with different orientations, they meet, push off in a movement that remains perfectly balanced, aware that only the "right measure" is the way to a peaceful and serene existence.
Metaphorically, they refer to apparently incompatible points of view, to opposites and to the need to find a point of contact, a bridge between worlds that seem too far away.
On the opposite side, the Niue coat of arms dominates, around which revolves: FIVE DOLLARS and the year 2022, including 2oz 999 fine silver.
