David Bowie is a British music legend.
The third issue in the "British Music Legends" series is dedicated to David Robert Jones, better known as David Bowie. Born in London in 1947, the musician, singer, producer and actor has been active for over 40 years. Until his death in 2016 he produced 26 studio albums and sold over 140 million records. David Bowie is one of the most successful musicians in rock and pop history. His best-known hits include "Space Oddity", "Hero", "Sailing", he also acted as Freddy Mercury's replacement for the Tribiute Album and sang "Under Pressure".
When designing the coin, the Royal Mint opted for a classic design that shows the artist in portrait. A lightning bolt and stars can be seen in the background, referencing the singles Rebel and Black Star. The lettering Bowie can still be read under the portrait.
The value side shows the portrait of the Queen, as well as the denomination and the year of issue.
The coin is delivered in the original coin capsule from the Royal British Mint and the original collector's box including elaborate outer packaging and a numbered certificate. A very small edition, sure to sell out very soon.
1/2 ounce of fine silver is delivered in the capsule (15.5 g).
